Joel Klatt releases top 15 college football rankings after Week 12

Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt released his new college football rankings after an incredibly eventful Week 12. However, Klatt released a top 15 instead of a top 10, potentially to factor in the teams that were on the fringes of playoff contention.

He made a surprise change to the rankings by putting Georgia at No. 3, which is the highest out of any team in the SEC. Georgia is hard to kill, and now, the Bulldogs are out for blood, bludgeoning No. 14 Texas 35-10. From the second half onward, Texas never had a lead, only getting as close as 14-10.

The Longhorns fall out of Klatt’s top 10, penciling in at No. 14. Texas still has a shot at the College Football Playoff, despite the three losses on the season. All they would have to do is defeat the No. 4 Texas A&M Aggies and get some help. Texas A&M falls behind Georgia due to an ugly first half against South Carolina. The Aggies were down 30-3 at halftime, but they scored touchdowns on four straight drives to win 31-30.

Klatt’s top 15 include six teams from the SEC, including five in the top 10. That is more than the Big Ten (five) and the Big 12 (three). The ACC has no teams in the top 15, proving how rough the conference is.
