The North Carolina Tar Heels were able to improve to 5-0 on the season thanks to a 73-61 win over Navy on Tuesday night. It was a game UNC was a 24-point favorite in, but had some trouble with in terms of Navy hanging around.
Even when UNC built a double-digit lead in the second half, Navy fought back. The Tar Heels led 68-44 with 4:47 left, before Navy went on a 15-0 run. That cut the lead down to nine with just over a minute left before Jarin Stevenson hit a big three-pointer.
It wasn’t the closing minutes UNC had hoped for, and following the game, the players decided they needed to talk about it.
Per multiple reports, the Tar Heels had a players-only meeting in the locker room. The meeting was led by Seth Trimble, a senior who is currently hurt, and lasted a little over 30 minutes.
Henri Veesaar said the Tar Heels called à players-only meeting after the game, thus the delay. Said it was productive, and he feels they got everything hashed out. https://t.co/P8Uo6HTIkw

As Koh reports above, the meeting was productive and everything got hashed out per the players.
It’s not unusual to have a players-only meeting in sports. They just usually come after tough losses or during losing streaks. But the good news is that UNC identified an issue in terms of closing out a game and felt the need to speak on it and get it corrected.
That could be key ahead of a tough schedule coming up starting next week against a ranked Michigan State team.
