Dolphins‘ linebacker Jordyn Brooks recorded more tackles than any player has managed yet in the NFL this season during Week 11. For his performance, Brooks has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Brooks recorded a stunning 20 tackles for Miami as they earned a 16-13 overtime win against the Washington Commanders this past Sunday in an NFL International Series game from Madrid. It is the second time in Brooks’ career he has reached the 20-tackle milestone in a single game, after doing so with the Seahawks in 2022.
Brooks’ two Player of the Week Awards this season are his first two such accolades in his career. He earned Player of the Week honors just last month in Week 8 as he tallied 10 tackles and one sack in a Dolphins’ win over the Atlanta Falcons. Brooks currently leads all players in the NFL this season in total tackles with 125, through 11 games – good for an average of 11.3 tackles per game. He has already previously led the NFL in solo tackles in 2021.
With the award, Brooks also becomes just the fourth Texas Tech alum to earn Player of the Week honors multiple times over the course of an NFL career. He joins Patrick Mahomes, Jakeen Grant, and Zach Thomas on that list.
