Iowa (5-0) scored a major early-season win, knocking off No. 10 Baylor on Thursday night from the State Farm Fieldhouse in Orlando, Fla., 57-52, in its opening game of the WBCA Showcase.
Playing without sophomore guard Chit-Chat Wright for most of the second half, Iowa banded together and made plays down the stretch to KO one of women’s basketball’s perennially successful programs.
Iowa was led by sophomore center Ava Heiden’s 18 points and 11 rebounds, but sophomore guard Taylor Stremlow also supplied a major lift with her career-high 12 points off the Hawkeye bench.
Iowa held Baylor without a made field goal in the game’s final 6:20 and closed on a 9-1 scoring spurt to capture the big win.
Naturally, Hawkeye fans were fired up throughout. Here’s a look back at some of the best social media reactions to the Iowa win:

Without two starting guards, this Iowa team just won the game against a good Baylor team.

I hope Chit Chat is okay.

Jan Jensen rolling with the matchup zone and keeping Baylor without a made basket from the floor over the final six minutes was BRILLIANT. What a huge early-season win. #Hawkeyes
