Where Alabama ranks in Week 14 US LBM Coaches Poll after beating EIU

The Alabama Crimson Tide rushed for eight touchdowns in a 56-0 shutout win over Eastern Illinois from the Football Championship Subdivision at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

Alabama (9-2) scored 14 points in each quarter to close the home portion of its regular season schedule. Whether the Crimson Tide plays again in Tuscaloosa this season will depend on how they fare in the final College Football Playoff rankings.

In any case, the Tide rushed for 269 yards total on 49 carries. Jam Miller led the way with 11 carries for 62 yards and had Alabama’s first touchdown. Freshmen AK Dear (nine carries, 45 yards) and Kevin Riley (eight carries, 36 yards) rushed for two touchdowns apiece.

Alabama finished with 539 yards of total offense and held Eastern Illinois (3-9) to two first downs and just 34 total yards in the game. Tim Keenan III recorded two sacks, and safety Bray Hubbard added another. Dijon Lee recorded an interception on the Panthers’ first series of the game.

Ty Simpson played the entire first half before giving way to backups Austin Mack and five-star freshman Keelon Russell. Simpson threw two interceptions, including one right before halftime. He finished 11 of 16 for 147 yards passing. After throwing one interception through the first nine games, Simpson now has three in his last two starts.

Coach Kalen DeBoer’s team, ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings, will learn its updated ranking from the committee Tuesday night at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN, but don’t expect much change from last week; the Crimson Tide are currently No. 10 in the CFP rankings.

Here’s where Alabama sits in this week’s Coaches Poll after a Week 13 schedule that saw one upset — No. 12 Georgia Tech’s loss to Pittsburgh — in the top half of the polls.
