Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went head to head against the Los Angeles Rams in a battle of NFC contenders on Sunday, but things very much did not go the visitors’ way.
The Rams pulled out to a 31-7 lead in the first half that put the Buccaneers in quite a difficult position headed into the last 30 minutes. In even worse news for the Buccaneers, electric quarterback Mayfield was injured on the final play of the first half on a Hail Mary throw.
While the Buccaneers were looking for something deep at the end of the first half, Mayfield came up from his Hail Mary throw injured and favoring his left shoulder and arm. Here’s how the play happened in the final moments of the first half.

Mayfield was first reported to be “doubtful to return” with a left shoulder injury according to Ian Rapoport and other NFL insiders, then was downgraded to out for the rest of Sunday’s game.
Now ruled out. Teddy Bridgewater the rest of the way. https://t.co/zLc0DlX1Cb

Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater stepped in to replace Mayfield after the starter’s unfortunate first half injury.
As for Mayfield’s status going forward beyond Week 12, we’ll have to see.
