Ella Antoniewski of Waukesha South/Mukwonago girls swimming was the winner of last week’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Piggly Wiggly high school athlete of the week poll for Nov. 3 to Nov. 8.
The Georgia recruit became just the second girls swimmer in the 56-year history of the WIAA Division 1 state girls swimming championships to four-peat in two events, winning the 200-yard and 500 freestyle events at Waukesha South Natatorium on Nov. 15.
Antoniewski received 4,460 of 8,182 total votes cast.
Max Glab of Grafton football was the runner-up of last week’s poll. In the Black Hawks’ 34-31 overtime comeback victory over Catholic Memorial on Nov. 14, Glab tallied 17 total tackles (14 solo), 10 tackles for loss, four sacks, two forced fumbles and caught the game-winning 1-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nicholas Schiller in overtime to send Grafton to its second Division 3 state title game in the last three postseasons.
Other nominees included Anne Dickinson of Whitefish Bay girls swimming, Elsa Nordstrum of Brown Deer/University School of Milwaukee girls swimming and Caroline Wanezek of Brookfield East girls swimming.
