Bode Sparrow has gone all over the country this season to get a jumpstart on his recruitment and this past weekend he took his first game-day visit to Oregon.
The 2027 four-star athlete from Kaysville (Utah) Davis loved so much about it.
“First of all, it was a great game,” Sparrow said. “USC is a good team and College Gameday was there so it was just fun to be there.
“I’ve never been to Eugene but that stadium is fun. They put us right next to the student section and they were rocking. It was a high-scoring game. It was a fun time to be there.”
The game was great. After the game might have been even better for Sparrow since that’s when he had a major opportunity to talk with basically every coach on staff.
Those relationships could go a very long way.
“After the game was when I spent a lot of time with the coaches,” Sparrow said. “Talked with coach (Dan) Lanning which was cool and spent a lot of time with the DBs coach and also talked to the receivers coach and talked to the OC and the DC.
“That was a great part about it – spending so much time with the coaches. That was really cool.
“Their DB coach offered me. I talked to the receiver coach, too, so they’re trying to get me here but they want me more at safety.”
A few programs like the Kaysville Davis standout on defense and others are saying receiver especially after he caught 83 passes for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and BYU are all playing a massive role in Sparrow’s recruitment and he’s not ready to narrow down even further but Lanning’s stability – and honesty – about staying in Eugene is a major draw to him.
“How college football is now, that actually means something,” Sparrow said.
“That’s a big deal. It just says a lot about him, too. I think very highly of him. He’s got his boys rolling. He’s a great coach. I love seeing what he has to say sometimes and he’s done a great job with them. He’s a phenomenal coach.”
