Tuesday was transaction day in Allen Park as the Detroit Lions opened up some roster space for some pending returnees from the injury lists.
The Lions waived three players from the active 53-man roster: CB Nick Whiteside, DL Quinton Jefferson and CB Arthur Maulet. Of the trio, only Maulet was active for the Week 12 win over the Giants. Jefferson has been active for just one game since Week 5.
All three are subject to waiver claims, which are determined by the current NFL draft order. The Tennessee Titans currently sit atop the claim order, followed by the Giants and Saints.
Detroit didn’t sign or activate any players on Tuesday, though they did bring back DB Erick Hallett to the practice squad. The Lions have several players hoping to get activated from injured reserve or PUP lists this week, including DE Marcus Davenport, DE Josh Paschal and rookie OL Miles Frazier. Davenport and Frazier have both been full participants in practice all week, while Paschal slid back from being a full participant to sitting out on Tuesday with his back injury.
