NFL world reacts to Ja'Marr Chase's very public apology

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase returned to the team on Monday after serving his one-game suspension.

Chase was suspended without pay by the NFL and not permitted to be with the team for the last week while serving the ban, which he appealed and lost, stemming from his spitting on Pittsburgh Steelers defender Jalen Ramsey in Week 11.

Upon his return, Chase issued a public apology.

“What I did was wrong,” Chase wrote. “The circumstances don’t matter. My passion for the game is no excuse. There’s zero place in our sport — or in life — for that level of disrespect.”

Chase did not mention Ramsey by name in the apology and lost more than $500,000 in wages by not playing in Week 12.

For his part in the multiple altercations with Chase two weeks ago, Ramsey was fined $14,191. During the game itself, he was ejected after punching Chase after the spitting incident.
