Seven teams advance from playoffs to join nine automatically qualified sides

The complete list of nations competing in the 2025 Arab Cup has been confirmed after the preliminary qualifying round concluded on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Seven team secured the final tickets to the tournament joining nine higher ranked nation that had already qualified directly based on their FIFA ranking.
Nations qualified via playoffs
A tense and competitive qualifying phase produced the following seven winners:
- Kuwait – defeated Mauritania 2-0
- Palestine – beat Libya 4-3 on penalties after goalless draw
- Syria – overcame South Sudan 2-0
- Bahrain – edged Djibouti 1-0
- Oman – advanced after beating Somalia 4-1 on penalties
- Comoros – eliminated Yemen 4-2 on penalties
- Sudan – secured hard fought 2-1 win over Lebanon
These teams now join the nine automatically qualified nations:
- Qatar
- Tunisia
- Morocco
- Saudi Arabia
- Egypt
- Jordan
- UAE
- Algeria
- Iraq
completing the 16 team field.
Final tournament groups
The draw produced four balanced group for the 2025 edition:
Group A: Qatar (hosts), Tunisia, Syria, Palestine
Group B: Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Comoros
Group C: Egypt, Jordan, UAE, Kuwait
Group D: Algeria, Iraq, Bahrain, Sudan
The competition will follow single round league format in the group stage with the top two team from each group progressing to the knockout rounds.
Tournament dates & host nation
The 11th edition of the Arab Cup the second organised under FIFA will take place in Qatar from 1 to 18 December 2025.
Qatar hosts the tournament for the second consecutive time after holding the 2021 edition where Algeria were crowned champions following dramatic final victory over Tunisia.
