LeBron James is slowly working his way back into a healthy rhythm following a 14-game absence due to sciatica.
The 40-year-old Los Angeles Lakers star, who made his season debut with the Lakers last Tuesday against the Utah Jazz, has improved his scoring with each game and refrained from stepping on any toes in the process.
Interestingly, James has already broken his own scoring record twice this season.
LeBron passes LeBron for the most points in a game by a player in their 23rd season,” Real Sports stated on X/Twitter Wednesday while exhibiting James’ scoring numbers (11 points against the Utah Jazz during the first matchup, 17 points against the Jazz in the rematch, and 25 points against the Clippers on Wednesday).
Considering James is the first player to compete in the NBA for 23 seasons or more, the four-time NBA champion was bound to make scoring history more than once this year.
Although Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves will likely continue to serve as the franchise’s top-two scoring options, James should still expect to receive plenty of touches, likely resulting in him besting himself several more times between now and the end of the 2025-26 season.
Suppose James decides to play behind Year 23. In that case, he’ll once again have zero competition in the record-breaking department, which says a lot about the future Hall of Famer’s longevity and consistency in the big leagues.
