BUFORD, Georgia, Nov. 28 — The No. 5/SN No. 5 Buford [GA] Wolves will host the unranked Douglas County [Douglasville, GA] Tigers Friday night in Georgia’s GHSA Class 6A quarterfinals.
Don’t let Douglas County’s unranked status fool you. The Tigers have spent time in the SN Composite Rankings this fall, and while they do have three losses, they are all to unranked teams still fighting for state championships in Georgia. One of those three teams is their opponent Friday night.
Douglas County gave Buford one of its hardest games of the year back on September 12, eventually losing 34-26. They also gave the undefeated Langston Hughes [Fairburn, GA] Panthers a fight in a 44-31 loss on September 5, and their only big loss came to the Carrollton [GA] Trojans in a 55-22 blowout on October 31.
Buford, of course, hasn’t forgotten that fight the Tigers gave them in early September, and this is, arguably, a Wolves team that has gotten even better as the season has progressed. But they’d still be wise to not underestimate these Tigers from Douglasville.
