The good, bad, and ugly from the Eagles' 24-15 loss to Chicago Bears

We didn’t want to say this, but believe it or not, this is precisely how some saw this game playing out. The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears have been traveling in different directions for weeks now. Their paths crossed on Black Friday, and the Bears embarrassed the Birds as the more physical team. The result was a 24-15 Eagles loss.

The score doesn’t reflect how lopsided this game was. Aside from a few highlights here and there, the Bears dominated from start to finish.

Chicago improves to 9-3. Philadelphia falls to 8-4 and is now in the midst of a losing streak. More importantly, the Bears own a tie-breaker over the Eagles that may come in handy come playoff time.

The good things we saw from the Eagles’ loss to the Bears on Black Friday

Let’s see… Silver linings from the Eagles vs. Bears game… Gosh… Were there any?

There was that bomb to A.J. Brown in the third quarter. That was pretty, but what do we say after this one? Brown got his targets and his opportunity to produce. He hauled in ten receptions for 132 yards and scored two touchdowns, but the Eagles lost anyway. We never really prepared ourselves for that conversation.

The bad things we saw during the Eagles’ loss.

Jake Elliott is heading in the wrong direction again. He made a 44-yard field goal, but he missed another and an extra point after the first touchdown.

Yes, we know there was a gust, and that may have played a part, but Carlos Santos played in the same driving wind. He made his only attempt and all three of his extra-point attempts. Jake Elliott also missed indoors vs. the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday.

Jalen Hurts has also been bad. Forget his pair of TD passes. He holds on to the ball too long. He too often misses wide-open wide receivers, both because he isn’t seeing the ball well and because he is delivering uncatchable footballs when he does.

The ugly – Things that we hope we never see again.

We could talk about everything ugly we saw for hours. We could focus on how the Bears gashed Philadelphia’s defense. We could discuss five punts, two turnovers, and a missed field goal in 11 total drives.

Let’s defend the Birds on two plays, though. A.J. Brown was flagged for a phantom offensive pass interference call. DeVonta Smith was fouled, and there was nothing. What’s up with that?

Still, even with a couple of bad calls, the Eagles can’t blame anyone for this loss but themselves. This was an awful performance, and it’s becoming easier to lose faith in this team’s chances as the weeks wear on.
