ACC Roundup – Georgia Tech Falls To Drake

In Saturday’s ACC Action, just one game as attention begins to shift to the ACC/SEC Challenges. And in that one game, Georgia Tech fell to Drake, 84-74 in the Consolation game of the Emerald Coast Classic.

Jalen Quinn had a great game as the former Loyola Rambler racked up 31 points and also passed out 7 assists.

For the Yellow Jackets, Baye Ndongo had 14 on 7-10 shooting and 7 rebounds of his own. Akai Fleming added 15 and he, too, had 7 boards. Big of a trend there.

Mouhamed Sylla, who has been impressive so far in his freshman year, wasn’t here: he had 5 points in 14 minutes and picked up 4 fouls.

This was probably a winnable game for Georgia Tech, now 5-3, and it would have been useful. The Yellow Jackets will host Mississippi State at home on Wednesday. If they lose, they fall to 5-4 on the young season.

Speaking of the Challenge, it starts on Tuesday. We’ll get more into that, but here are the matchups.

Tuesday:

  • Texas A&M at Pitt
  • Tennessee at Syracuse
  • Virginia Tech at South Carolina
  • Oklahoma at Wake Forest
  • Florida at Duke
  • Georgia at Florida State
  • Miami at Ole Miss
  • Missouri at Notre Dame
  • UNC at Kentucky
  • LSU at Boston College
  • Clemson at Alabama

Wednesday

We’ll get to our choices, but for now, some schools have injury concerns, notably Virginia Tech and UNC. Whatever happens, it’s almost bound to be better than last season.
