There’s no hard feelings with New England Patriots quarterback Tommy DeVito when it comes to his former team, the New York Giants.
Giants fans loved him during his run with the team. He went from an undrafted rookie out of Illinois to a starting quarterback in his first season. In the previous two seasons, DeVito made 12 game appearances and eight starts for the Giants.
However, he was waived after training camp, and the team went with rookie Jaxson Dart, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston as their three quarterbacks. The Giants hoped DeVito would clear waivers for a practice squad stash, but he was ultimately claimed by the Patriots.
Monday will be the first time he’s reunited with his former team from the Patriots’ sideline.
“I loved my time there,” DeVito said of the Giants, via MassLive’s Karen Guregian. “When I was there, it was, ‘Go Giants’ but now it’s ‘Go Pats’ all the way. I hope we blow them out.”
DeVito followed up by saying he will help the Patriots in any way that he can to beat the Giants on Monday.
The Patriots are sitting at 10-2 on the season with a chance to earn the No. 1 seed in the AFC conference, while the Giants are a 2-10 opponent hoping to play spoiler in the primetime matchup. It should be a competitive game featuring two completely different teams on separate trajectories.
