The Spartans‘ leading rusher this season will reportedly hit the transfer portal.
Michigan State running back Makhi Frazier will reportedly enter the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. The news of Frazier hitting the portal comes out a few hours after former head coach Jonathan Smith was fired by the school.
Frazier recorded 520 rushing yards and two touchdowns across eight games this season. He missed four of the final five games with an undisclosed injury, including the final three games to end the year.
Frazier is a sophomore and will have two years of eligibility remaining. According to Mike Roach of 247Sports, he is expected to “command significant attention” within the portal.
With a coaching staff change coming, Frazier will be one of many Spartans to enter the transfer portal and look for a new home next year. It does stink, though, to lose a running back with the potential that Frazier showed this season.
