LSU basketball's Jalen Reed ruled out for season with Achilles injury

For the second consecutive year, LSU basketball’s Jalen Reed has suffered a season-ending injury.

Tigers coach Matt McMahon announced Tuesday the redshirt junior forward will be out for the remainder of the 2025-26 season following an Achilles injury suffered Friday night against Drake.

“Jalen Reed suffered a season-ending (left) Achilles tendon injury during last Friday night’s game versus Drake. He underwent successful surgery this morning in Baton Rouge,” McMahon said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon. “We are absolutely heartbroken and devastated for Jalen. His journey back to the court has been inspiring to everyone in our program.”

Reed previously tore his ACL against Florida State in December 2024, limiting his junior year to just eight games. This season, he appeared in six games — all off the bench — and averaged 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
