Patriots game day roster: NFL Week 13 vs. Giants

The New England Patriots headed into Monday with two starters down along their offensive line. Left tackle Will Campbell and left guard Jared Wilson both went down during last week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, with the former since placed on injured reserve with a knee injury and the latter considered week-to-week due to a sprained ankle.

Their absence, as well as center Garrett Bradbury nursing an illness, has created a trickle-down effect that is on full display when looking at New England’s game day roster against the New York Giants. The team does have eight offensive linemen available, but the group includes several emergency options.

At tackle, Vederian Lowe is taking over for Campbell opposite right-side starter Morgan Moses. Backing them up is Thayer Munford Jr, who was signed from the Cleveland Browns practice squad a week ago. Seventh-round rookie Marcus Bryant, the previous OT4, has been made a healthy scratch.

Along the interior, Ben Brown will start at left guard alongside regulars Bradbury and Mike Onwenu. The depth behind the trio consists of regular healthy scratch Caedan Wallace and practice squad elevation Brenden Jaimes — two players who have yet to play any offensive snaps for the Patriots this season.

New England’s full game day roster for Monday night looks as follows:

Besides Jared Wilson, the Patriots’ inactives list also features defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga, who hurt his chest against the Bengals in Week 12. With Tonga as well as Milton Williams out — the latter of whom on injured reserve — the team’s depth up front will be tested: Christian Barmore returns as a regular starter and one of the NFL’s most disruptive interior defensive linemen, while Cory Durden, Eric Gregory, Joshua Farmer and practice squad pickup Jeremiah Pharms Jr. will round up the depth alongside him.

Based on their previous usage, Barmore will be a three-down presence, while Gregory projects as an early-down contributor in the mold of Tonga. The other three, meanwhile, are pass rushers first.

In the secondary, the Patriots opted to make Miles Battle active after he was recently promoted from the practice squad. While serving as the No. 4 cornerback, he also might have a hand in replacing injured team captain Brenden Schooler in the kicking game. Both Battle and fellow CB Charles Woods are candidates to see heavy special teams action.

Besides some practice squad movement, the team also opted to send two players to injured reserve: cornerback Alex Austin and the aforementioned Will Campbell will be out for at least four games, starting on Monday against the Giants.

The Patriots’ game against the Giants will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.
