Not called up for AFCON, Yvan Neyou ends his journey with the Indomitable Lions

Cameroonian midfielder Yvan Neyou, who plays for Getafe CF in Spain, has officially announced his international retirement after being left out of the Indomitable Lions squad selected for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

Yvan Neyou brings his Indomitable Lions journey to an end
On his Instagram account, Neyou expressed his gratitude to his homeland, stating: “Wearing this jersey and representing Cameroon has been a tremendous honor. Thank you for everything, my country. Good luck at AFCON and for the challenges ahead.”
The former AS Saint-Étienne player was not the only one to face tough decisions from new head coach David Pagou, who opted to leave out several key figures from the Cameroon squad.
Among the most notable names omitted are goalkeeper André Onana (Trabzonspor), defender Jackson Tchatchoua (Wolverhampton), and iconic striker Vincent Aboubakar (Neftçi Baku).
This list of exclusions has sparked a wave of reactions within Cameroonian football.
