Nebraska secondary coach Addison Williams will be with the Cornhuskers in 2026. Head coach Matt Rhule confirmed the coach’s future in his signing-day press conference on Wednesday.
Williams was instrumental in landing one of the biggest recruits in the program’s history in five-star corner Danny Odem. The corner was recognized as a high school All-American, earning an invitation to play in the Navy All-American Bowl.
Following the dismissal of defensive coordinator John Butler, Odem had questions about the future of the Husker defense and the future of Addison Williams. Rhule made it clear that the new defensive coordinator will have a lot of say on the makeup of the defensive staff in 2026, but stated that Williams will remain with the Huskers.
This was Williams’ first season with the program. The pass defense ranked second in the country, allowing just 141.1 yards per game. He helped create one of the strongest secondaries in the country.
This is certainly a good sign for the program. Williams has proven himself to be a strong coach and recruiter, as well as an invaluable part of the coaching staff.
