When it comes to football, family and community for Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Austin Corbett, nothing else matters.
Corbett has been named the Panthers’ 2025 nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He and 31 other players were officially announced as club winners for one of the NFL’s most prestigious honors on Thursday.
But the eighth-year veteran didn’t find that out in a regular ol’ press release or while scrolling along on Twitter. He got the news from a couple of heavy metal legendsāMetallica’s James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo.

Corbettāfor this year’s My Cause, My Cleats initiativeārepresented the All Within My Hands Foundation. Created by the members of Metallica, the foundation fights against hunger, supports workforce education and strengthens local communities.
The winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award will be announced at NFL Honors during Super Bowl weekend.
