Clemson Signee Named Gatorade Player of the Year in West Virginia

Clemson’s incoming tight end Tayveon Wilson is arriving with one of West Virginia’s biggest awards attached to his name. He was selected as the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year after closing out a senior season where he basically did everything Huntington needed.

Wilson spent his final year moving all over the field. He threw for 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns, added 750 rushing yards with ten scores, and showed the same versatility that made him a centerpiece of the program. Across his high school career, he managed to clear 950 yards in passing, rushing, and receiving — finishing with 1,407 through the air, 950 on the ground, and 1,103 as a receiver. He also picked up all-state and all-conference honors each year from 2023–25.

He locked in his Clemson decision late last year and made it official on Wednesday.

Recruiting sites rate Wilson highly, with ESPN listing him as a four-star prospect and the No. 22 tight end in the 2026 class. Two national services also consider him the top player in West Virginia.
