The Washington Commanders received some great news on Friday. Star quarterback Jayden Daniels will officially make his return in Week 14 after missing a month with an elbow injury.
The quarterback got hurt in the fourth quarter of the Week 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks. It didn’t look good, but it was encouraging that it happened to non-throwing side and the team didn’t place him on injured reserve.
The thinking was that Daniels would return in either Week 13 or 14, so it tracks that he’s ready to go for this weekend.

Daniels’ return will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the Commanders, who are currently on a seven-game losing streak.
Marcus Mariota has started six games for the Commanders in relief of Daniels. The veteran has performed admirably, with 1,359 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions. Mariota has also rushed for 248 yards and four scores on the season.
2025 has been a disaster for the Commanders and Daniels. Daniels was expected to have another incredible season after winning the Rookie of the Year Award in 2024 and leading the team to the NFC Championship Game. However, multiple injuries have caused Daniels to miss time, and his supporting cast has been ravaged by injuries as well.
Now that Daniels is returning, the hope is that the team can at least end the 2025 season on a positive note and prepare to compete again in 2026. The Commanders and Vikings will kick off from U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET.
