Mohamed Salah fires shots at Harry Kane during rant about Liverpool boss Arne Slot

Bayern Munich players can’t seem to stay out of the headlines, even when the controversy involves a different club. Speaking to the media after the draw to Leeds, Liverpool FC star Mohamed Salah pointed out the hypocrisy in the English media regarding his performances, and took aim at Harry Kane in particular.

The Bayern Munich striker used to play in the Premier League once upon a time, and Salah claims that Kane never got the kind of scrutiny that he has been subjected to this season. For reference, Salah has been dropped from the starting lineup by Arne Slot in recent games, and the Egyptian forward is not happy about it.

The quotes were captured by Fabrizio Romano on his Twitter:

Mo Salah: “Can I give an example? It’s silly but I am sorry. I remember a while go, Harry Kane was not scoring for ten games”.

“The media were like: Oh, Harry will score for sure. When it comes to Mo, everyone is like: He needs to be on the bench. I am sorry Harry!”.

Of course, what is obvious is that Salah only refers to the English media. In the German media, Kane would be accused of a goal drought if he goes more than 60 minutes without a goal. Okay, that’s an exaggeration, but the Bayern Munich striker has had no actual goal droughts in his career. The longest would be that time in the 21/22 season, where he went six league games without a goal or assist.

Salah, meanwhile, is having an extremely difficult season by his standards. After playing like one of the best players in the world last season, the Egyptian is having a tough time as Liverpool under Arne Slot struggles to regain form.

Salah did at least apologize to Harry in his statement, showing no harm was meant. The same cannot be said about his statements regarding Arne Slot (via BBC Sport):

“I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.”

“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager, and all of a sudden we don’t have any relationship.”

“I don’t know why but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”

“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame.”

Honestly the full interview is full of bombshells and worth a read on its own. Salah is clearly incensed by the situation at Liverpool FC and wants something to change. Will that something be the manager?

We Bayern Munich fans will watch with great interest (and a tub of popcorn at the ready).
