MLB Trade Rumors | Mark Polishuk: Add another team to the list of suitors for free agent and former Yankee Cody Bellinger. The Philadelphia Phillies have apparently thrown their hat in the ring for the versatile lefty slugger. It sounds like Plan A for the Phils remains re-signing Kyle Schwarber. If that’s the case, then Belli represents a fallback for Philly. But that is another club with deep pockets making their interest known, joining the Mets, Dodgers, Blue Jays, and Angels among the Yankees’ competition.
The Athletic | Jim Bowden ($): On the eve of the annual Winter Meetings, Jim Bowden wish casts what they’d ideally look like. And if he had his druthers, the Yankees would be busy. To begin: signing Kyle Tucker to a 10-year, $427 million deal. From there, closer Edwin Díaz comes to the Bronx on a five-year deal that could hit nine figures. On the trade market, Will Warren and José Caballero head to Milwaukee in exchange for Freddy Peralta. Not done, the Yankees also send Spencer Jones and Kaeden Kent to Miami for Sandy Alcantara. Finally, to cap off this frenzy, New York sends Elmer Rodriguez and Roderick Arias to the Diamondbacks for Ketel Marte. Color me skeptical that a single one of these items unfolds as Bowden describes them.
MLB | Joe Trezza: The Rule 5 Draft will take place Wednesday at the Winter Meetings. The Yankees protected Spencer Jones, Elmer Rodríguez, and Chase Hampton from the draft by placing each on the 40-man roster. That leaves numerous members of the Yankee organization vulnerable to being plucked away. Three prime contenders: pitchers Brock Selvidge, Brendan Beck, and Harrison Cohen. The first two have struggled with injury in recent years, but could still tempt teams if they want to roster them for all of 2026. Cohen, meanwhile, is “an older reliever with experience at the upper levels and strikeout stuff – the sort of plug-and-play bullpen option” teams pull the trigger on in the draft.
Pinstripe Alley will have all your Rule 5 Draft coverage on Wednesday.
