The visitors got on the scoreboard quickly, just 33 seconds into the game as the Hurricanes seemed a step behind to start things off.
The home team did tie the game later in the first period when Jordan Staal tipped in a Shayne Gostisbehere shot on a powerplay opportunity.
But the Sharks scored twice in the second period to take a 3-1 lead and then ended the game with an empty net tally.
Pyotr Kochetkov, who returned from injury to play in this game, allowed three goals on 21 shots.
His season record dropped to 4-1-0 with a GAA of 1.96 and a SV% of .914.
19 year-old, Macklin Celebrini looked as good as advertised as he led his team with a goal and two assists.
During the broadcast, there were several interviews and much in depth discussion regarding the 2006 Stanly Cup win and they seemed to cover the game as an after thought at times. But it would seem that this would be a good game for that to happen.
The Canes had a tough time generating any type of consistent offensive pressure throughout and looked a bit tired. It was their third game in four nights.
They will take Monday off then have a morning skate for the game on Tuesday.
