We asked for your views on Mohamed Salah’s comments, the fallout, him being left out of Liverpool’s Champions league squad, and the future.
Here are some of your views reflecting less favourably on the the Egypt international’s conduct:
Ian: Who does Salah think he is saying he has earned his place in the team? Places are fought for game after game and if the manager thinks you aren’t pulling your weight you are dropped. In my opinion Salah should be sold in January before he upsets the squad more than it is already.
Andrew: It’s the right call, he’s not bigger than the club and appears past his best on form this season. Others could equally be dropped for a game or two, but with no centre half options selling Salah and bringing in Guehi is a must.
John: Salah is out of order and out of form so Slot and Liverpool were right to drop him. All he should be doing instead of sulking is working hard to get his place back.
Heidi: Not the Liverpool way. Set an example and find that spark when your form is dipping. Torching your legacy to play in the Saudi Pro League? Fine, the very deserving Ian Rush and Roger Hunt get to keep their well-earned goal records.
Keith: Salah can’t complain, he did this to himself. Not content with the pain Liverpool fans are enduring in results, he chose to add an embarrassing sideshow to the mix.
Stephen: Saddened, this stuff needs to be kept in-house but he knows that. No person is bigger than LFC. He himself must know his form has dropped off a cliff this season. He should apologise publicly for the outburst. Does he really want to play in the Saudi league now? I ‘d be very surprised to see any interest from elsewhere? He needs to think very carefully about what he’s done and the consequences. Mo, you’re bigger and better than that – you and your agent know it and so does everybody else.
John: It’s probably the right call, leaving the door slightly ajar for Salah to come up with a public apology, to fans, team mates, Slot and the club. He’s miscalculated big time and without a full retraction he’s almost certainly played his last game for the Reds. It would be a sad end to a glittering Liverpool career.
Paul: I love Mo, like every other Liverpool fan. But he needs to be gone after the Afcon for this behaviour. Otherwise it will lead to the same player power shambles that Man Utd have experienced the last few years. If he comes back into the fold after this then players present and future will think they can get away with being entitled at LFC.
AJC: A pointless and untimely tantrum. Slot is looking for solutions and in this moment he’s experimenting on what we are like using alternatives on the right. Salah is off to the Afcon shortly. Makes sense to me. Stop sulking Mo.
