UFC on ESPN 73 has a late addition that includes the debut of a UFC veteran’s son.
This Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, veteran King Green takes on newcomer Lance Gibson Jr. in a short-notice lightweight bout. Eurosport NL first reported the matchup, and both fighters have publicly posted about the fight on social media.
Green (32-17-1 MMA, 13-12-1 UFC) returns for his second fight of the year, looking to rebound from back-to-back opening round stoppages to Paddy Pimblett and Mauricio Ruffy. The last win for the 26-fight UFC veteran was against Jim Miller at UFC 300.
Making his UFC debut will be Gibson Jr. (9-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC), son of Lance Gibson Sr., who made two appearances under the promotion’s banner at UFC 24 and UFC 29, going 1-1. Gibson Jr. spent the bulk of his pro career under the Bellator banner, where he fought six times, building a 5-1 record. After his last fight with the promotion in 2023, he fought twice on the regional scene, picking up a pair of first-round stoppages.
