A public memorial for legendary football coach John Beam took place in Oakland on Wednesday.
He was shot and killed last month at Laney College in Oakland.
Community members gathered for a “light the path, light the field” walk honoring his legacy.

That’s the path beam often walked himself on campus.
The memorial started at 4 p.m.
The walk started from Laney College Bistro, to the Eagles Football Stadium.
The man accused of killing Beam is due back in court next week.
