Jeremiyah Love shares his thoughts on teams to ‘freeze out’ Notre Dame

It was the start of a very big weekend for Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love, as he won the Doak Walker Award on Friday night, and is a Heisman Trophy finalist tonight.

Prior to becoming the Irish’s first Doak Walker winner, the junior spoke about the rumors that teams could be looking in other directions instead of scheduling Notre Dame due to a new clause in the College Football Playoff format that will guarantee a spot if the Blue and Gold finish in the top-12. It won’t go into effect until next season, and Love came to the defense of playing the Irish.

He said that “they’re scared to play us. They don’t want to play Notre Dame because we’re Notre Dame. You’re leaving us out of your scheduled, it’s not a good look. Why not play us? That’s who I think about it.”

It’s hard for us not to agree with Love’s statement, as it makes no sense for teams to shy away from playing one of the nation’s best programs. While some teams might have conferences that tell them not to schedule the Irish, it’s a silly thing to do for more than a few reasons, but especially being scared.
