Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) is gearing up to take on Miami (FL) (10-2) in the first round of the 2025 College Football Playoff and will host the Hurricanes in Kyle Field for an early Saturday afternoon showdown. This will be the first appearance in the CFP for both programs, which last met during the 2023 season.
Compared to the other CFP games scheduled on Saturday, this is the one expected to be close and could come down to the final possession. On paper, both rosters are similar in talent, and for the Aggies to make it to the quarterfinal round against No. 2 Ohio State, several key starters must improve after the regular season finale loss to Texas.
However, two of the Aggies’ stars on both sides of the ball weren’t the reason Texas A&M fell to the Longhorns on Black Friday, as star wide receiver KC Concepcion and junior linebacker Taurean York were two of the bright spots within the loss, and will be counted on to play at an elite level against the Hurricanes on Saturday afternoon.
During his first and possibly only season in College Station, KC Concepcion led the Aggies through the air, hauling in 57 receptions, 886 yards, and nine touchdowns, paired with two punt return scores during the regular season. York led the team in tackles (67) for the second straight season, notching a sack and two pass deflections.
Surprisingly, only Concepcion and York were selected to Pro Football Focus’s All-SEC Team, as senior edge Cashius Howell was left out in favor of Texas junior Colin Simmons and Missouri senior Zion Young.
