OUTLOOK
Kase Evans has had some bad luck on the recruiting trail, with his two previous commitments going to Oklahoma State and Iowa State, both of which lost their head coaches. Evans, who signed with Iowa State during the early National Signing Day period, was granted his release from his signing and promptly followed Matt Campbell and offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser to Happy Valley.
Evans has the traits to be a successful quarterback in the modern game. He’s an accurate passer, a good athlete, and has a live arm. Like any quarterback making the jump from high school to college, it’s going to be about how everything transitions with the speed of the game increasing so greatly. There’s a reason you can pick any recruiting year and look at the Top 10 ranked quarterbacks and see more “What happened?” stories than successes.
Evans doesn’t play in one of the higher classifications of Texas high school football — 3A out of XA — but he’s been extremely productive. He’s been a four-year starter at Lexington, throwing for 11,640 yards and 120 touchdowns, so the high school production is there.
Now the *sixth member of Penn State’s 2026 recruiting class, Evans joins Peyton Falzone as the second quarterback in the class.
*Working on a commit article for the fifth, punter Lucas Tenbrock. Please hold.
