What Jaguars must avoid in Week 15 game vs. Jets

The Jacksonville Jaguars host the New York Jets in Week 15 of the NFL regular season.

The Jaguars will enter this game at 9-4 on the season and control their own destiny in the AFC South. The Jets, meanwhile, are 3-10.

On paper, this is certainly a game that the Jaguars should win, but as we see on an almost weekly basis in the NFL, very little is a given in this league.

So, in order for the Jaguars to take care of business and win this game, what cannot happen?

What the Jacksonville Jaguars must avoid vs. Jets

Oftentimes in these games where the two opponents are trending in different directions, what it comes down to is the better team not beating themselves.

For the Jaguars, this means not turning the ball over and losing the turnover battle. Limiting penalties and other crucial miscues, like drops or special teams errors, will be important as well.

Turnovers provide the opponent with scoring opportunities, while penalties can end drives for the Jaguars’ offense and extend drives for the Jets.

The longer the Jets are able to hang around in this game, New York’s chances of pulling off the upset increase.

During the Jaguars’ winning streak, and particularly as of late, Trevor Lawrence and the offense have been very good at taking care of the football.

The offense has also found success generating explosive plays through the air, while the defense has been keeping points off the board. The overall play has been physical as well.

Given how this team has operated this season under Liam Coen, there is no reason to think that the Jaguars will be looking past the Jets. But, as always, it’ll still come down to being able to execute.
