The New York Giants (2-12) are preparing this week to face the season’s final stretch, which includes home games against the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys, with an away game against the Las Vegas Raiders sandwiched in between.
The Giants‘ latest loss allowed them to hold onto the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft, but their position is precarious. After facing one of the NFL’s toughest strength of schedules over the first 13 weeks, Big Blue closes out the season facing the second-weakest strength of schedule.
With the 15th game just around the corner, here’s a look at the pulse of Giants fans, analysts, and former players.
Is an intervention in order?
Back in 1979, NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle, weary of watching the Giants flounder for nearly two decades, stepped in to help get the franchise fixed and headed back in the right direction.
The team’s current situation is not as similar to the one back then. They had missed the postseason for 18 consecutive years, and the owners were in a heated feud. An intervention was the only move.
These Giants just can’t seem to get out of their own way. They are all on the same page, but the book they’re using is out of date. They’ve tried just about everything to jumpstart their franchise over the past 12 years, and nothing has worked. They’ve lost ten or more games in ten of those 12 seasons.
When current NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was seen in attendance at the Giants-Washington Commanders game on Sunday, observers began to wonder why he would be at this meaningless eyesore of a game between two of the league’s two losingest teams in inclement weather.
Roger Goodell in the house. Must have scooped up one of the $10 tickets on the secondary market.

Now the answer could be as simple as Goodell, living in New York, decided not to travel in the snow to a more attractive matchup. Or…he could be there to take the temperature of the Giants, who have been firing coaches every week and are in the process of yet another possible front office upheaval.
Where are the fans?
The Giants-Commanders game may have been the most sparsely attended since Big Blue moved into MetLife Stadium in 2010. Keep in mind, it was a game between a 2-11 and a 3-10 team in a snowstorm, but the fans have always come out.
A glimpse of what it was like at MetLife Stadium yesterday. Granted, it was the start of Q3, but still: this is the state of the Giants right now.
This is as empty as I’ve ever seen it on the All-22 glance. The fanbase is beaten down—too many years like this in a row. pic.twitter.com/nvIxBgKlMA— Dan Schneier (@DanSchneierNFL) December 15, 2025
The Giants host the 6-8 Minnesota Vikings this Sunday, so if the attendance is anything like this again, it will spark serious concern.
“We really haven’t played well enough to deserve people coming out in a snowstorm to watch,” right guard Greg Van Roten said. “I get it.”
The @Giants organization doesn’t deserve our fanhood, our money, our time and energy… This isn’t a serious organization. They refuse to do the things necessary to be a great franchise. This is not in any way an indictment of the players, though some deserve it.

Finding some gems in this pile of rubble
The Giants’ top two draft picks in this year’s NFL draft, linebacker Abdul Carter and quarterback Jaxson Dart, played well this week in the team’s loss to Washington. In a season that went down the drain months ago, there is at least some hope for the future.
Follow Abdul Carter step for step during the best game of his career so far. All he needed was one good week of practice!

Where does the coaching search stand?
The Giants are 0-4 under interim head coach Mike Kafka. It stands to reason the team won’t be handing him the full-time job after the season.
So, who will the Giants be targeting for the position, and will general manager Joe Schoen be the one leading that search still?
The Giants haven’t tipped their hand on who they could be looking at. The search is said to be a wide one, however.
Notable Giants head coaching candidates for next season, per @DMRussini:

Colts DC Lou Anarumo
Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury
Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak

Then, there is the reality that candidates could stay away from the Giants if Schoen, whose Giants are 11-37 since the beginning of the 2023 season, is going to be calling the shots.
Since the 9-7-1 start to the Joe Schoen tenure in 2022, the Giants have devolved into an utter catastrophe:
– Schoen’s NYG has a 20-43-1 (.319) overall record
– Set a franchise record with 10 consecutive losses in 2024 (Weeks 6–16)
