Maryville (Tenn.) football didn’t waste much time finding a new head coach.
It was reported on Monday that Derek Hunt was stepping down from his helm after spending the last nine seasons as the head coach of the Rebels. On Tuesday, the program announced that defensive coordinator Kenny Cobble has been named the 19th head coach in school history.
Cobble has been on the Maryville staff since 2016. He was previously the head coach of Jefferson County in Dandridge, Tenn. from 2011-15.
This past season, Maryville reached the third round of the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) Class 6A, Division I playoffs, falling to Blackman, 31-7. The Rebels finished the 2025 season with a record of 11-2.
