Ohio State offensive coordinator and newly named USF head coach Brian Hartline is beginning to assemble his coaching staff down in Tampa, and we shouldn’t be surprised if there’s a little Scarlet and Gray flavor to it.
On that note, former Ohio State offensive coordinator Tim Beck is expected to be hired by Hartline as the Bulls’ offensive coordinator, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer. Beck was most recently the head coach of Coastal Carolina, but was recently fired by the Chanticleers after going 6-7 this past season.
Before his time at Coastal, Beck served time as offensive coordinator at NC State (2020-22), Texas (2019), Ohio State (2015-16), and Nebraska (2011-14). He was the wide receivers coach at Kansas prior to that. Beck’s time with the Buckeyes showed mixed results with some pretty remarkable talent, but that came to an end when Tom Herman became the head coach at Texas and took Beck with him.
USF is working toward a deal to hire former Coastal Carolina head coach Tim Beck as its offensive coordinator, sources tell @chris_hummer and me for @CBSSports.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on Hartline and how the pieces of his staff are coming together.
