After the miraculous upset of No. 1 Nebraska in the Elite Eight, the Texas A&M volleyball program is set to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers in the program’s first-ever Final Four appearance at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday evening.
Led by head coach Jamie Morrison, this season’s ventures have been filled with historic moments and memories that will last in Aggie lore forever. With their eyes set on reaching the program’s first national championship appearance, the Aggies have another massive challenge if they want to make more history. The Panthers defeated No. 12 Purdue to play Texas A&M in the semifinals of the NCAA Tournament and are now faced with an opportunity to break through and capture their first national title.
Pitt leads the Aggies in hit percentage, opponent hit percentage, aces per set and blocks per set, while the Maroon and White hold the advantage in kills per set, assists per set and digs per set. Texas A&M’s experienced leaders, like Logan Lednicky, who moved to fourth in program history in career-kills, will play an integral role in the team’s success on the court on Thursday. Ifenna Cos-Okpalla’s presence at the net has also played a tremendous role in defending against the best volleyball programs in the country, as she moved to second in all-time blocks at Texas A&M in the win over Nebraska.
