Officially the Dallas Cowboys are out of the playoffs, but for the team the show must go on. The Cowboys took to the field in what was the final home game of the season against the L.A. Chargers who were looking for another victory to keep up the pressure in the AFC West on the Denver Broncos. L.A. got the win with another poor Cowboys’ defensive effort, but what did social media have to say about the game?
Dallas get the ball and start off quick. George Pickens making a very hot start.
There’s George Pickens on fourth down. Chargers’ Cover 2 takes out the slant, but Dak Prescott connects with him on a go ball that goes for 28 yards and the first down.
Pickens already has more yards (42) in this game than he did in each of the last two weeks.

Injury update
Cowboys C Cooper Beebe is getting looked at extensively on the field after that fourth down play. Was on his stomach for a long time, now walking off under his own power. Brock Hoffman is coming in at center.

Cooper Beebe down FK MAN IM OVER THIS GAME!

The Chargers answer right back.
Chargers answer Cowboys TD with a TD of their own. TCU’s Quentin Johnston with a 1-handed grab over Shavon Revel from 23 yards. Perfect throw from Justin Herbert. Tie, 7-7.

Eberflus in booth, on the sidelines or just in the stadium.
Same results 🤣

Cowboys offense moves the ball well on the next drive and plays with good efficiency.
Tied at 7 after one quarter. Cowboys at the Chargers 10. Looking for touchdowns on consecutive drives to open the game.
— Todd Archer (@toddarcher) December 21, 2025
CeeDee Lamb makes an important catch, and goes over 1,000 yards on the season.
CeeDee Lamb now over 1,000 yards.
— Marcus Mosher (@Marcus_Mosher) December 21, 2025
Flournoy keeps impressing. The score is called for a hold on Tyler Smith, but still a great catch.
A remarkable catch by Ryan Flournoy in the back of the end zone for what would’ve been his second touchdown of the half is called back after a Tyler Smith holding penalty.
— Tommy Yarrish (@tommy_yarrish) December 21, 2025
Dak Prescott makes Cowboys history.
Dak Prescott (@dak) has surpassed 4,000 passing yards in 2025. It is Prescott’s fourth career 4,000-yard season, tied with Tony Romo for the most 4,000-yard seasons in franchise history.
— Dallas Cowboys Public Relations (@DallasCowboysPR) December 21, 2025
After the penalty the offense failed to score and brought in Brandon Aubrey for the chip shot.
#Cowboys forced to settle for a FG after the Tyler Smith holding penalty negates what would’ve been Ryan Flournoy’s second TD in as many drives.
Butter makes it.
10-7, Dallas leads Chargers

Chargers offense keeps storming the defense. A story much heard throughout the season.
Hampton just flat-out blows past Wilson on that play … good job by Shavon Revel to clean it up but not before the chunk yardage was earned.
— Patrik [No C] Walker (@VoiceOfTheStar) December 21, 2025
Through two drives, the Cowboys has sent five-man pressures on six out of nine passing plays for the Chargers.
Brian Schottenheimer said a big reason why Matt Eberflus is now in the booth is to help him make adjustments. We’ll see after two drives what he does.

Injury update.
#Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown – concussion – OUT for the rest of this game.
— fishsports ✭ (@fishsports) December 21, 2025
A cheap shot comes in from the Chargers defense and a scuffle breaks out.
Ryan Flournoy was hit in the head late on a sliding catch by Denzel Perryman. Cowboys immediately went to defend him. Tyler Booker was there first to push Perryman, who stumbled over Flournoy and accidentally hit him in the helmet again.

Dak throws a perfect rainbow ball to George Pickens down in the endzone for a massive touchdown.

Chargers retake the lead on the next drive. Defense failing everywhere.
Chargers bowl ahead to retake the lead against the #Cowboys as the first half comes to a close.
LA gets the ball to start the third quarter, as well.
21-17, Chargers lead
— Patrik [No C] Walker (@VoiceOfTheStar) December 21, 2025
There’s no humor in it. I take no joy in saying it, but it’s time to let Matt Eberflus seek other opportunities.
All the best in his future endeavors, but the time has come for him and the Dallas Cowboys to part.

Cowboys defense makes a stop.

Cowboys fail on third down.
4th and 4 and Brian Schottenheimer punts again.
He still doesn’t know what type of defense he has.

Pickens with a big catch.
George Pickens is at 108 yards, his fifth 100+ yard effort this season.

Another explosive play allowed by the defense.
Herbert runs for 34 yards… who do you think missed him on the blitz?
— Zach Wolchuk (@ZachWolchuk) December 21, 2025
The defense struggles get worse.
Cowboys have sent five-man pressures a lot today. Way more than usual. It’s resulted in no sacks, technically, and three QB hits w/ 13:37 left in this game.
Kenny Clark did have a third down stop on Justin Herbert that resulted in a short gain.
— Joseph Hoyt (@JoeJHoyt) December 21, 2025
Turns out pressure works.
good pressure/pursuit by Markquese Bell and Donovan Ezeiruaku to force Justin Herbert into a bad throw.
FG made.
27-17, Chargers lead #Cowboys
