Chargers fans react to Denzel Perryman's NFL suspension

After the NFL announced a two-game suspension to Chargers’ linebacker Denzel Perryman on Monday afternoon for repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players as a result of a late-hit penalty assessed against him during Sunday’s game against the Cowboys, fans rushed to social media to voice their displeasure with the league’s disciplinary decision.

Although the 10-year NFL veteran has violated the league’s policy on such matters in the past, the final straw for Perryman was the previously mentioned late-hit penalty on Dec. 21, where he delivered a blow to the helmet of Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy while he was on the ground after making a catch.

Despite the well-deserved in-game penalty, Chargers fans have collectively expressed that the league overreacted to the hit by assessing a suspension to the team’s defensive star. This potential impact his absence may have on the team during the final two weeks of the regular season only strengthens fans’ belief.
