The Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off an incredible Week 16 win over the Detroit Lions, moving to nine wins on the regular season, with plenty of studs (and duds) to recognize.
From several offensive standouts to a special teams blunder that almost cost Pittsburgh big, here are the biggest winners and losers from the Steelers’ Week 16 win over Detroit.
Winners
Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers put together a strong performance against the Lions, completing 27 passes for 266 yards and one touchdown, a huge factor in Pittsburgh’s Week 16 victory.
Jaylen Warren
The fourth-year Steelers running back had arguably the greatest game of his career on Sunday, rushing for 143 yards on just 14 attempts, including two 45-yard rushing touchdowns that paved the way for Pittsburgh’s ninth win of the season.
Kenneth Gainwell
Gainwell’s dual-threat abilities continue to take Pittsburgh’s offense to new heights. Rushing nine times for 50 yards and catching five passes for another 78 yards and one touchdown, there was arguably no playmaker more dynamic than Gainwell on Sunday.
Joey Porter Jr.
Porter’s Year 3 breakout continued in Week 16, playing a huge role in locking up Lions WRs Jameson Williams and Amon-Ra St. Brown throughout the majority of the contest.
Losers
Chris Boswell
It pains me to place Boswell anywhere other than the winners category, but his 37-yard missed field goal almost cost Pittsburgh the win. Don’t let the Week 16 doink fool you — Boswell remains one of the greatest kickers of all time and will look to bounce back over the final two games.
DK Metcalf
Metcalf’s placement on the list has very little to do with his on-the-field production. It was his altercation with a Lions fan in Week 16 — resulting in a two-game suspension — that leaves the Steelers without their top receiver with a pair of pivotal matchups remaining.
