Auburn linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr. plans on entering the portal

Another key piece of the Auburn defense has announced his plans to enter the transfer portal.

The Tigers continue to see players plan to hit the portal on defensive side of the ball. Starting linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr. announced his plans to enter the transfer portal, per Hayes Fawcett of Rivals and On3.

In three seasons at Auburn, Woodyard had 88 total tackles, 63 being solo tackles. Patience was the story of his time with the Tigers. The 2025 season was a breakout season for the junior linebacker, where he finished the season with 67 total tackles and two sacks. He finished second on the team in tackles behind Xavier Atkins and finished tied for fourth in sacks with Amaris Williams, Jared Smith, and Keldric Faulk.

Woodyard committed to Auburn in the 2022 recruiting cycle as a four-star prospect coming out of Mobile, Alabama. Ranked 13th in his position and ninth in the state. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

DJ Durkin and the rest of the defensive staff will be looking to replace many pieces on defense once the portal opens Jan 2.
