Iowa wrestling adds two-time Fargo champ to 2027 recruiting class

As the Hawkeyes enjoy the holiday break, Iowa wrestling secured a commitment from Shamus Regan, who joins the 2027 Hawkeyes recruiting class.

The Wyoming Seminary (Penn.) product is expected to compete at the 133-pound weight class when he arrives in Iowa City, and is currently ranked as the No. 37 prospect in his class, according to FloWrestling‘s Nov. 19 update to their 2027 rankings. Additionally, Regan is ranked No. 8 in the 132-pound weight class.

“This was a tough decision and a huge one, and I’m grateful for everyone who helped guide me through it. Thank you to my parents for everything you’ve sacrificed. None of this happens without you. Huge thank you to all my coaches who believed in me, pushed me, and helped me grow on and off the mat,” Regan wrote in announcing the decision on social media.

“I’m also very thankful for all the other schools that showed interest and gave me opportunities throughout the recruiting process. Grateful for everyone who supported me along the way. Excited for the next chapter. Go Hawks!”

The Hawkeyes earned Regan’s commitment over other premier college wrestling programs, such as Missouri, North Carolina, and Army.

The No. 4-ranked Hawkeyes (7-2) will take to the mat again from Jan. 3-4 at the Soldier Salute at Xtream Arena in Coralville, Iowa, before resuming dual competition against No. 19 Wisconsin (8-0) from Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Jan. 9.

The matchup against the Badgers will begin at 7 p.m. CT and will stream on B1G+ (subscription required).
