Where Alabama sits in ESPN's latest 'Bracketology' entering SEC play

In the midst of a challenging nonconference schedule, the Alabama Crimson Tide are back on the move in the latest edition of ESPN college basketball analyst Joe Lunardi’s “Bracketology.”

Released on Tuesday morning, Lunardi now projects Alabama as a No. 4 seed in the South Region. There, Lunardi projects Alabama to face No. 13 seeded Lipscomb in the Round of 64 in Tampa, Florida, with the winner facing the victor of No. 5 North Carolina vs. No. 12 Akron in the second round.

Alabama is 1-of-10 SEC teams currently projected in the field of 68, as of Tuesday, Dec. 23, which is tied with the Big Ten for the most of any conference.

The Crimson Tide’s record currently sits at 9-3 overall with a resume headlined by wins over Illinois, St. John’s, and Clemson. Alabama’s losses have come to Gonzaga, Arizona, and Purdue, each of which are Quad 1 defeats, per the latest NCAA NET Rankings.

Alabama’s next game will come this upcoming Monday, Dec. 29, at home against one of the Ivy League’s top teams, the Yale Bulldogs. After that, Alabama will open SEC play Saturday, Jan. 3, at home against Kentucky.
