Bengals QB Joe Burrow explains latest cleat change post-injury

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow acknowledged that he’s changed up his cleats again over the course of the last week. 

Astute onlookers noticed that Burrow seemed to be back in his old cleats during the win over the Miami Dolphins.

On Christmas Eve, while chatting with reporters before the Week 17 showdown with the Arizona Cardinals, Burrow explained what’s going on with his cleats

In short? Burrow’s making great progress on his comeback from Grade 3 turf toe, to the point he can get back into something more comfortable. 

On mobility, Burrow said this: “Certainly not as mobile as I have been in the past, but mobile enough to make a couple plays every game.“

Reports had previously covered some of the protective measures in Burrow’s cleats that aided in his return earlier than expected this season: 

When it comes to mobility, it’ll be interesting to see how the conversation evolves around Burrow in the coming weeks and months. 

For now? The fact Burrow and those advising him are comfortable enough to swap things around already feels like a good sign about health.
