Tyler Huntley hopes to potentially erase an unsettling Ravens memory

If this feels like deja vu, it should. The Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers don’t cross paths very often. Unless they meet in a Super Bowl, we’re only guaranteed a game once every four years. The Pack leads the all-time series by a 5-2 margin with one of the most exciting matchups occurring four seasons ago.

Stop us if any of this sounds familiar. In 2021, Baltimore entered the game vs. Green Bay in late December. Lamar Jackson was injured, which meant Tyler Huntley was the starting quarterback for the Ravens‘ offense. That could very well be the scenario when these two teams meet on Saturday night, but even if Jackson plays, his injury issues could force ‘Snoop’ Huntley into action.

Huntley played well vs. the Packers four years ago. He completed 28 of 40 passes. He threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns vs. zero interceptions. He finished with a 99.5 QB rating. The Ravens notched 30 points. Unfortunately, their defense gave up 31 to the Aaron Rodgers-led Packers offense.

The Ravens have maintained the same attitude all week. Fingers crossed that Jackson plays, but everyone has complete confidence in Huntley if the two-time MVP can’t go. Mark Andrews spoke with the media on Wednesday and expressed much of what we’ve heard from Ravens players and coaches.

“There’s a lot of incredible things about ‘Snoop’ [Tyler Huntley]. I think that he runs this offense incredibly well. He’s a very versatile player. He gets the ball out, and he sees things really well. I think that one of my best years was with Snoop; so, I’ve got a lot of chemistry with him. Just seeing him grow throughout the years has been truly special. He’s a one-of-a-kind human being. Just the type of quarterback that he is, I know he’s going to continue to be the leader that he is.”

He remembers Huntley’s efforts from the aforementioned clash with Green Bay. Like most, he admits to not getting the desired result, but he has fond memories of working with the Ravens QB2 last time around.

“Yes, that was fun. And obviously, we didn’t get that win, but I know [Tyler Huntley] is thinking about that. But for us, it’s about focusing on now, focusing on this team and what we can control this week.”

Green Bay has injury concerns of its own, especially at the quarterback position. Will their high-powered offense be led by Jordan Love or Malik Willis?

Love was concussed in Week 16. He recently practiced while Willis sat out, so the Packers could be trending towards having their star quarterback in the lineup for a huge game between two teams who still have Super Bowl aspirations.
