Texas A&M sophomore ranked No. 25 among 2027 MLB draft prospects

Baseball season is inching closer, and as teams prepare to return to the diamond, preseason evaluations are beginning to take shape across the country. Despite a challenging 2025 campaign, Texas A&M still features one of the SEC’s most talented young cores—headlined by sophomore outfielder Terrence Kiel II, a rising star with legitimate MLB upside.

Kiel, a legacy Aggie and standout dual‑sport athlete, chose to commit to Texas A&M baseball over more than 100 football offers. That decision has already paid off. As a true freshman, he earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors twice and became a regular in the Aggies’ lineup far earlier than many expected.

Across 56 games, Kiel slashed .294/.388/.388 with 59 hits, 26 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. His elite speed immediately translated to the college level, making him a threat on the basepaths and a rangy defender capable of covering significant ground in the outfield. With another offseason of development, he’s trending toward becoming one of the SEC’s premier all‑around athletes.

On Wednesday, Perfect Game USA released its Top 100 prospects for the 2027 MLB Draft, and Kiel debuted at No. 25 on the list. Given his production, versatility, and athletic ceiling, there’s a strong chance he climbs even higher with a breakout sophomore season.

Kiel’s ability to impact the game in multiple ways—whether starting in the outfield, coming off the bench as a pinch runner, or slotting into various defensive roles—makes him one of the most dynamic players on A&M’s roster. Expect him to play a major role in generating pressure on the bases and tracking down balls in the gaps as the Aggies look to rebound in 2026.

Below is the full Top 100 list from Perfect Game’s X account, along with a link to the complete rankings.

Texas A&M will open the season against Tennessee Tech in a three-game series starting on February 13 at Blue Bell Park in Bryan-College Station.
