A key piece for Will Stein’s defense will be returning for his senior year with Kentucky Football. Standout safety Ty Bryant will be staying put despite the Wildcats’ coaching change, according to Larry Vaught.
Bryant, the Lexington native, was a massive piece in the Wildcats’ secondary throughout the 2025 season. He led the Wildcats in tackles this past season, totaling 76. Bryant also led the Wildcats’ defense in interceptions, ending the season with four.
Bryant could’ve seen some real action if he had entered the transfer portal, but Stein made it a mission to keep the big-time DB on his roster. The Kentucky kid will be staying home.
The Wildcats’ new defensive coordinator, Jay Bateman, who came over from Texas A&M, also played a big role in retaining Bryant ahead of 2026.
Bryant had a massive season for the Wildcats’ defense. He saw his name on the Coaches All-SEC Second Team after the season ended. He’ll be a candidate to be a First-Team selection in 2026 if he continues to improve and take his game to the next level.
