In a must-win game for the Chargers‘ chances of winning the AFC West, the Bolts’ bevy of missed opportunities and miscues ultimately proved their undoing against the Texans on Sunday evening at SoFi Stadium, where they lost 20-16.
Despite the Chargers’ defense playing exceptionally well beyond the two deep touchdown passes in the first quarter, the Bolts’ injury-riddled offensive line provided minimal protection to quarterback Justin Herbert throughout the game, as the former Oregon Duck was sacked five times on 35 pressures.
As a result of the Week 17 loss, the Denver Broncos not only have officially wrapped up the AFC West division title, but the Chargers also dropped to the No. 6 seed in the AFC playoff picture. Also, Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts have been eliminated from playoff contention, completing their second-half season collapse, which once had them 8-2.
