The NFL fined three Denver Broncos players following the team’s 34-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 16.
Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton was fined $23,186 for illegal use of a helmet on tight end Brenton Strange, defensive lineman Malcolm Roach was fined $17,389 for landing on a quarterback with his body weight and safety P.J. Locke was fined $11,593 for a late hit.
Roach and Locke were both penalized for their offenses (and Roach’s foul was controversial). Singleton’s hit did not draw an initial flag, but the NFL handed down a fine after reviewing the film. Jaguars defensive back Montaric Brown was not fined for the hit that knocked Denver wide receiver Pat Bryant out of the game with a concussion.
Earlier this season, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto was fined $11,593 for pulling a player off a pile, cornerback Riley Moss was fined $8,253 for a facemask penalty, linebacker Justin Strnad received a $15,486 fine for making “contact with an official” and safety Talanoa Hufanga was fined $11,593 for unnecessary roughness.
The NFL’s fines are “donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game,” according to the league.
